The Michigan Wolverines took on Akron Falls, where starting pitcher Tate Carey took full control on the hill. Carey delivered a piece of history in Michigan, while securing a huge win for the Wolverines.
Carey started for the Wolverines, throwing the school’s first no-hitter since 1994. Michigan completed a 13-0 win in a run-rule regulation. Carey was ecstatic throughout his outing, keeping Akron off the base-pads, up until the seventh inning where a walk was issued.
The Michigan offence was also electric, putting up 13 runs, scoring eight runs alone in the fourth inning.
Carey’s stat-line displayed 7 innings pitched, 0 runs, 0 hits, 1 walk, and four strikeouts. The right-hander is a product of Canada from Windsor Ontario and attended Windsor Secondary School.
Carey improves to a 4-0 record at 1.000 win-loss percentage, a 7.80 ERA, now improved to 5.32. He’s pitched 10 games with 15 innings pitched, only allowing 13 earned-runs, with eight strikeouts and six walks.
This is the second Canadian this year, after Blake Gillsepie , to pitch a no-hitter in NCAA baseball.
