2026 MLB Draft: Canadian High School prospects list

Sean Duncan – LHP

  • Current School: Terry Fox Secondary (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia)

  • College Commitment: Vanderbilt

  • Draft Outlook: Potential first-round selection

  • MLB Draft Prospect Ranking: 66

  • Note: Injury - Tommy John Surgery recovery (to be confirmed)

Scouting Report: Duncan is the premier Canadian prospect in the class. Standing around 6-foot-4 with an athletic frame, he features a fastball that has climbed into the low-to-mid 90s with projection for more velocity. His best secondary offering is a sharp slider, while his changeup continues to improve. Scouts love his clean delivery, strike-throwing ability, and starter traits. He projects as a durable mid-rotation starter with upside beyond that if the velocity continues to develop.

Elliot Lascelles – SS

  • Current School: Upper Canada College (Toronto, Ontario)

  • College Commitment: Yale

  • MLB Draft Prospect Ranking: 158

Scouting Report: Lascelles is one of Canada's most polished position players. He's a smooth defender with reliable hands, above-average baseball instincts, and the ability to stay at shortstop professionally. Offensively, he makes consistent contact with an advanced approach and gap power that could grow into average home-run production as he matures physically. His overall game is built around baseball IQ and consistency.

Julian Sabourin – RHP

  • Current School: Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary (Hamilton, Ontario)

  • College Commitment: Oregon State

Scouting Report: Sabourin is an athletic right-hander whose stock has risen thanks to improved velocity and command. He attacks hitters with a lively fastball, a developing breaking ball, and a quality changeup. Scouts view him as one of Canada's better pitching prospects because of his projectable frame, clean arm action, and starter profile.

Robert Omidi – 3B

  • Current School: St. Martin Catholic Secondary (Mississauga, Ontario)

  • College Commitment: Kentucky

  • MLB Draft Prospect Ranking: 207

Scouting Report: Omidi is one of the best power bats in the Canadian class. He generates easy exit velocity from the right side and profiles as a run-producing corner infielder. Defensively, he possesses a strong arm and enough athleticism to remain at third base, though first base is also a possibility depending on his physical development. His offensive upside is what makes him an intriguing draft prospect.

Damarcus Rideout-Carter – RHP

  • Current School: Heart Lake Secondary (Brampton, Ontario)

  • College Commitment: Uncommitted

Scouting Report: Rideout-Carter is arguably the highest-upside arm in Ontario. He's an explosive athlete with a fastball already reaching the low-to-mid 90s and flashes an above-average breaking ball. Like many young power pitchers, his consistency and command remain works in progress, but his arm strength and athleticism give him significant professional upside.

Lukas McDowell – RHP

  • Current School: Northern Pre-University (Ontario)

  • College Commitment: North Florida

  • Draft Outlook: Day 2 selection with upside

Scouting Report: McDowell wins with pitch-ability and command. His fastball features heavy sink, generating weak contact, while his slider has become an effective swing-and-miss pitch. He repeats his delivery well and attacks hitters aggressively in the strike zone. Although he may not possess elite velocity, scouts appreciate his mature feel for sequencing and his ability to project as a durable professional starter.

Zach MacDonald – 3B

  • Current School: École Lacombe Composite (Alberta)

  • College Commitment: Michigan

  • Draft Outlook: Middle-round power bat

Scouting Report: MacDonald is one of Canada's premier power hitters. His physical build produces impressive raw power from the right side, and he consistently generates high exit velocities. Defensively, he has the arm strength necessary to remain at third base, although some clubs could eventually view him as a corner infielder. His offensive upside will largely determine how early he's selected.

Logan Cummins – RHP

  • Current School: St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary (Ontario)

  • College Commitment: Kansas State

  • Draft Outlook: Top 10–15 round candidate

Scouting Report: Cummins is an athletic right-hander with a clean, repeatable delivery and a fastball that continues to trend upward. His breaking ball has become more consistent, and his overall strike-throwing ability has impressed scouts. While still adding physical strength, he profiles as a developmental starting pitcher with the potential for more velocity as he matures.

AJ Rogers – RHP

  • Current School: Okotoks Dawgs Academy (Alberta)

  • College Commitment: Houston

Scouting Report: Rogers has emerged as one of Western Canada's fastest-rising arms. An athletic pitcher with a loose, quick arm, he features a fastball into the low-90s and flashes an above-average slider. His athleticism suggests future gains in both velocity and command, making him an attractive long-term development project for MLB organizations. His ceiling could ultimately exceed his current draft position if his secondary pitches continue to improve.

Zij Mina – INF (1B/Corner INF)

  • Current School: Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School (Ontario)

  • Club Team: Mississauga Tigers HPP

  • College Commitment: Vernon College (NJCAA Division I)

  • Draft Outlook: Follow prospect with Day 3 upside and significant developmental ceiling.

Zij Mina has emerged as one of Canada's fastest-rising 2026 MLB Draft prospects thanks to his significant physical development and offensive gains. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, the left-handed hitting corner infielder generates consistent hard contact with above-average raw power, highlighted by impressive exit velocities and an improving approach at the plate. His performance at major showcase events has elevated his profile among professional scouts.

Defensively, Mina projects primarily as a first baseman with the arm strength and athleticism to provide value at a corner infield spot. While his power is his carrying tool, continued improvements to his hit tool and overall consistency could allow him to climb draft boards, making him an intriguing follow prospect with legitimate professional upside.
