The New York Yankees have called up top prospect outfielder Jasson Dominguez. He is the 27th man as they play at a neutral site against the Detroit Tigers. Dominguez was expected to see the Major League field after rosters expanded in September.
Dominguez, otherwise known as “The Martian” was out with an injury that estimated six to eight weeks of recovery. The outfield prospect made his way back to play, and began rehab in the minors.
The Yankees prospect so far this season has shown some real progress despite the injury. Within three levels and 151 at-bats, Dominguez has slashed a .298/.365/.477. He’s recorded 24 RBIs, 45 hits, seven home runs, and nine stolen bases.
Where does Dominguez fit on the field? The Yankees have an outfield at capacity, however the rumors and opinions linger. A big rumor is that New York may look to replace Alex Verdugo. This move is also presumptive to the roster expansion period next month.
If Dominguez shows value, he may find a way to stay and possibly be declared for the 2024 MLB postseason.
